Entertaining content but nearly overwhelmed by advertisements

I browse theCHIVE daily and the app is definitely preferred over the mobile website. I am addicted to the content.

However, each new version of this app seems to be designed mainly to support more and more advertisements without increasing functionality. Sure, the user interface gets tweaked with each revision but not for the better. It is littered with false posts that are actually ads, pop-ups, and an ever-present banner along the bottom. This is on top of the sponsored content and promotion of their own merchandise.

If I ever abandon theCHIVE, it will be because the ads have become overwhelming. At this rate that will probably happen with the next update.

Lastly, there seems to be a complete absence of fact-checking and most of the editors lack grammatical skills and/or the patience to proofread. We should expect more from people who get paid to write. I understand that theCHIVE is not the New York Times, but really, we should be more responsible about the "information" that we spread and fight the erosion of the English language.
